For those traveling from out of town, we got a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn and Suites at the north end of Old Town at a discounted rate of $99 per night plus tax & a $20 parking fee – a great rate for Old Town AND the hotel is completing a renovation, so everything will be brand new or updated when you arrive.

Below is the information for the Old Town Holiday Inn and Suites – use the group code “FHH” to get the special discounted rate! Reservation # 703 548-6300 or via the web holidayinnoldtown.com Hotel Address is: 625 First Street Alexandria, VA 22314.

A Few Words About Hotels:
For those of you who (like me) are coming from out of town, here’s a couple things I’ve seen as I consider where to stay.

1The Holiday Inn Old Town is a pretty good deal. Bear in mind that there’s a DAILY fee of $20 to park there (which is standard for most Old Town properties). And it’s not really walking distance to the bar crawl. Still, it’s about the best $99 lodging you’ll find. Note also that the FHH group code is valid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of reunion weekend. Here’s Temple’s original blurb on reservations.

2Looking on Hotwire, there’s a “hot-rate” 4-star boutique hotel listed for $119/night. I’m fairly certain this is The Alexandrian (formerly Hotel Monaco, which is the closest lodging to the bar crawl, right on King Street). IF this is indeed The Alexandrian, booking normally (not as a hot-rate hotel, where the name is hidden until you book it) will cost you $167/night. So, it may be worth taking a chance on it. No guarantees, but I THINK it’s the same hotel. Please let me know if I’m wrong.

3Remember that you can take the King Street Trolley from spots all up and down King Street all the way down to the water. So if you’re staying at the Hampton Inn (for example) up near the train station, just hop the trolley down King Street. Check the hours of operation, though.

4The Hampton Inn near Ft. Belvoir is great, if you want to be on that side of Fort Hunt.

I’ve done all these things, stayed at all these locations, and any are good options. The Holiday Inn usually has a poolside gathering of FH alums on Saturday afternoon of reunion weekend. The Monaco used to have a nightly (well, late afternoon/early evening) wine gathering, but not sure if they still do.

Obviously, it’s best to not wait until the last minute.
